Today’s shirt is brought to you by Dave Dotson. I’ve known this guy for a while, and he is a rad dude. He used to videotape shows all the time, and now he’s started a band of his own, Invitational. I highly recommend them, especially if you’re into bands like Seaweed and Gameface.
I was asked to pick a favorite shirt that I own. Do you even know how difficult it is to pick a favorite!? I have owned maybe 300+ band shirts since my mom bought me an Oasis shirt in 95. So I thought about it a lot over the past few days and finally came up with one.
I would have to say that this blue Nofx Mons-Tour shirt is my favorite shirt. For me, Nofx will be one of my all time top favorite bands. I may not of been listening to them in the early 80s but I’ve been listening to them long enough.
I’ve owned it for maybe 4 years or so but it remains in heavy rotation in my daily wear. I got this shirt from my friend Tim who fits into a small shirt but somehow owned this xl shirt and he decided to be a dude and give it to me. It fits awesome and the six color print has yet to start cracking.
Im not sure when the shirt was made but I know its late 90s. I did however acquire a yellow original mons-tour 94 shirt a few weeks before Tim hooked me up. I’ve seen the same shirt in green, tan and dark blue. One day I’m sure I will own them too.
This is my favorite shirt. Or at least in my top 3, and is my favorite shirt today, haha. The story about how I came into the shirt isn’t super exciting, like getting it at a show, or having someone give the shirt to you, but the reward of finally getting it trumped how I acquired it.
Hands down, Belle and Sebastian and Bad Brains are 2 of my favorite bands, no doubt about it. I had heard stories about this shirt existing years ago, and had never seen one. It was a dream shirt, really, combining 2 of my favorite bands into one shirt. Then, finally, when I was working on a tour a couple years back, I saw someone in a bar wearing it. That’s when I knew it actually existed for real, whether it was a legit B&S shirt, or was the world’s best bootleg. Either way, I was now committed to finding this shirt.
Shortly after that tour, I got home, and was sitting around looking for records on Ebay. Then, the miracle happened. There was a guy in California selling the same shirt I had been looking for, and had finally seen just a few months before. The only downside was that it was an XL. However, with that Buy It Now of $40, it was a no brainer. So I clicked on that button, and a week later, that beauty was in my hands.I’m not the biggest fan of buying bigger shirts, and fixing them, but in this case, I made an exception, obviously.
Within minutes of getting it, I was measuring it out, and forking it over to my girlfriend to fix it up on the sewing machine. Sadly, the sleeves had to go, but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me, since about half of my shirts are sleeveless as it is. As soon as she was done I threw it on and was so stoked. Finally, the shirt I had been looking for for years was mine. There’s no better feeling than that.
Well, there won’t be, until I find a couple Morrissey shirts that I want. That or someone makes a 7 seconds/Moz combo shirt like this one. If it exists, please let us know.
